– Cult Rockers Are Back –
The late 1980s Finnish rock scene was electrified by ANDROIDS, a high-voltage melodic hard rock band that rose from Helsinki's underground to national fame. Their Radiomafia hit "Same As You", together with flashy music video an other hits like "Let It All Out" and "Hard Lovin' Girl", made the band a household name.
The victory for their video "When The Sun Turns To Rain" on Finland's Levyraati TV show in 1988 turned them into one of the decade's most exciting new acts, earning passionate fans and near-hysterical crowds at gigs and festivals.
In 1990, ANDROIDS broke new ground by touring Moscow during the Perestroika era, introducing Finnish rock energy to new audiences. Their debut album "Let It All Out" was originally released in Finland (Flamingo Records) and Spain (Hilargi Records), and later reissued on CD by SunCity Records (Australia) in 2008, where critics praised it as "a hidden gem from Finland."

Androids at Tavastia on 26 May 2026 was no ordinary nostalgia trip. It was the continuation of a journey toward eternal stardom.
That journey began in 1987 with the release of the debut single Same As You, followed by a maxi-single featuring two additional tracks. The album Let It All Out was meant to be the breakthrough that sealed the band's place among Finland's biggest acts, but fate had other plans.
At the time, the odds were stacked against Androids. Their record company went bankrupt and was unable to properly support the release. Promotional efforts were poorly organized, and the momentum that should have carried the band forward was lost. Yet despite these setbacks, Androids earned several hit nominations and even won Levyraati, one of Finland's most respected music television programs of the era.
The evening at Tavastia was not built solely on memories. New songs were woven seamlessly into the set alongside the classics and received an equally enthusiastic response from the audience. Among the highlights were the majestic I've Been Dreamin', the irresistibly catchy Born To Stay Alive, and Geronimo—a groovy and heartfelt tribute to the late Timo Kaltio, a dear friend of the band.
The future looks just as exciting as the past. A new album featuring ten brand-new songs is scheduled to be completed during the summer of 2026, with plans for an autumn release. Judging by the strength of the new material unveiled at Tavastia, fans have every reason to look forward to the next chapter in the Androids story.
Nearly four decades later, the songs still resonate. The performance at Tavastia was more than a celebration of the past—it was proof that some journeys never truly end. For Androids, the voyage that started in 1987 continues, carried forward by the music, the memories, and the enduring connection between the band and its audience.
